Ens fa molta il·lusió que usuaris de la Biblioteca vulguin compartir les seves investigacions amb vosaltres per mitjà de Bitàcola MMB. Eulàlia Espinàs i Carme Urgell han creat la web Viure navegant on van recollint la història del seu avantpassat, Joan Espinàs, capità de la marina mercant. Un bon exemple de difusió històrica.
Un jove navegant en temps de la Primer Guerra Mundial
Amb la mirada posada en el centenari de la Primera Guerra Mundial (1914-1918) i com a complement al web Viure navegant hem creat la secció "Vivències del jove navegant Joan Espinàs en temps de la primera guerra mundial".

En Joan Espinàs Font era un jove que començava a navegar quan la Primera Guerra Mundial va esclatar. Aquesta nova secció del web se centra en els episodis viscuts pel joveníssim Joan quan, tot just declarada la guerra, comença els estudis de nàutica després de decidir -gràcies a diversos viatges anteriors- la seva vocació per la navegació.
Amb els anys va ser capità de la marina mercant i la navegació va ser la seva manera de viure. El web Viure navegant, encara inacabat, recull els escrits, cartes i altra documentació dels seus 50 anys de navegació.
L'espai recentment creat sobre la Primera Guerra Mundial reuneix la correspondència i els escrits personals en els que descriu les vicissituds que visqué i presencià en aquells viatges primerencs enmig de temps de guerra, complementats amb enllaços i informació recollida en diverses fonts documentals històriques.

Van ser uns viatges molt llargs, a l'oest (Jacksonville, USA) i a l'est més llunyà (Manila, Filipines) amb rutes allunyades de la Mediterrània, un mar en conflicte, però amb inevitables retorns a Barcelona. És en la zona geoestratègica mediterrània on visqué de primera mà tot el seguit d'esdeveniments que es documenten en aquesta nova secció de Viure navegant.
